Calling All American Civil War Buffs!

Forward! March! Civil War buffs, this is the camp for you! The past will come alive through a series of audio-visual presentations including firsthand accounts from soldiers and civilians, original battlefield photographs, and film clips. Learn about both Union and Confederate armies and their battles, and the generals who led them. Come and discover the how and why behind the major battles of the war. CO2 Car Engineering Design

Design, build, and test your own CO2 dragster race car! Learn how compressed air can propel your race car to reach 60mph. 3D modeling software and parts provided will be utilized to build your race car. A digital jump/flash drive is suggested. Day in Court

Play the roles of judge, defendant, plaintiff, witness, lawyer, bailiff or juror in several mock trials. Digital Circuit Technologies

This is where electrical engineering, the field of designing and developing new equipment, begins. Discover the inner workings of digital circuits by building simple digital electronics. Learn the basics of soldering techniques then move on to more difficult projects. Explore the inner workings of integrated circuit chips to build circuits on computers using logic gates. Completed projects can be brought home after last day of camp.

Campers will learn the basics of drone technology and safety before taking to the air to fly and code the drones through an abundance of missions. Throughout the week, Instructors will pose various challenges the campers will solve using drones. Missions include: Connect 4, Drone Basketball, King
Kong, International Space Station Drone Docking, Harry The Hiker, and more. Throughout the week, campers prepare for the concluding event: the Ultimate Drone Games where students collaborate, strategize, create drone missions, and compete with one another. Campers will use the SWIFT programming language to accomplish many of these missions.

For novice and experienced drone enthusiasts. Action packed as campers enjoy one of the world’s fastest growing sports, Drone Obstacle Racing. First, learn about the basic safety of drone flying and the history behind drone racing as a sport. From there, campers will progress through skill challenges and
learn how to perform exercises and maneuvers to become familiar with the drone’s speed and agility. Campers will use iPads and remote controls to navigate the drone through short and long obstacle courses. Campers also create the design and help build the obstacle course in preparation for the last
day’s final activity and competition.

Engineering Explorations

As an engineer you will learn physical science concepts and use them as you design, construct, test and analyze results. Then, you will reconstruct, retest and reanalyze results to determine whether design modifications were effective. Design and construction competitions may include bridges, roller coasters and amusement park rides, electric circuits, rockets and space vehicles, energy efficient buildings and interactive computer challenges.

Historical Technology

Learn how historical technologies changed the world and actually build these working technologies. Design and build while learning engineering design drawing techniques. Design and build a hot air balloon – then fly it! Build and take home a working catapult, sundial, hypsometer and hovercraft – racing your hovercrafts the last day of class. Students are required to bring/wear long pants & shoes while in the technology lab.

Intro to Film & TV: On Camera Acting and Behind the Scenes

Work as cast and crew teams in this cool camp. Learn basic levels of acting, directing and operating the camera. Script writing, storyboarding and improvisation will also be introduced. Projects include com- mercials, film scenes, music videos and public service announcements. Each day is different as campers create original projects and learn the basics of the biz. This camp is designed by casting director, Kathy  Wickline, CSA (www.wicklinecasting.com) who holds over 10,000 casting credits in film, commercials and TV. Love animals? Discover the many career opportunities our furry friends provide. Learn what veterinary professionals do in their exciting careers and the educational requirements for each exciting career with animals! Guest presenters include veterinarians, veterinary technicians and assistants, veterinary practice managers, veterinary educators, veterinary sales representative, canine police officers, zookeeper, animal control officer, lab animal research and the staff from The Seeing Eye! Program includes two days of field trips: Zoom Room in Tinton Falls, a tour of the Monmouth County SPCA, and a full day at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls for an up-close look at veterinary medicine in action. Camp concludes with a hands-on pet first aid workshop on a canine mannequin!

Magnetic Levitation And Solar Technology

Mag-lev vehicles can provide the high-speed transportation of people and goods to move rapidly and efficiently along the magnetic guide-ways. The aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle shape is critical to its success . An aerodynamically efficient body shape reduces friction between the air and the vehicle. Jon us to design, build, test and race a vehicle across a track. Campers learn electronic concepts covering direct current obtained through solar cell power and build solar activated devices . Students are instructed in safety methods using tools. Campers will successfully design electronic circuits and build a solar powered device to take home.

Make Your First 3-D Video Game!

A new version of a Black Rocket classic! This camp allows you to develop a game concept that goes well beyond the limitations of traditional 2D game  design and create an immersive 3D world. Campers will learn the physics behind 3D games, explore beginner event scripting, level design, controlling flow of gameplay, and storytelling. Camper created games will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family.  Campers work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Minecraft Designers

Love Minecraft? Always wanted to design your own world? This camp is for you! Learn how to create a custom map, the basics of creating 3D models using a new software to design your very own objects. Build with Redstone and Command blocks, and create custom textures to import at home or share with
friends. To access their project at home, campers must own a PC/MAC version of Minecraft. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. Parent email address is required to use 3D modeling software. Campers work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

From collecting sea creatures in Sandy Hook Bay, hunting for fossils from the ocean’s past, to exploring our changing coastal environments, lighthouses, historic Fort Hancock and more, join us for 5 days of discovery at our Jersey seashore. Virtual Reality: The Future is Now

Embark on an EPIC adventure in virtual reality! In this cutting edge camp, you will learn the foundations of VR design by creating your own virtual worlds, exploring simulated environments, and crafting memorable 3D experiences. At the end of the week, take home your first cardboard VR headset to show friends and family the new worlds you created. VR projects can be viewed on a website or a mobile device. Campers do not need a mobile device to take the class, but to use the VR headset a camper will need access to an Android or Apple mobile device. Learn the basics of mixing colors, explore new watercolor techniques, and practice your drawing skills. Bring a favorite object (or an image of it) and use your newly learned skills to paint its image. Website Building Technology

Begin the week building websites using rapid prototyping tools such as Google Sites. After mastering these skills, campers move on to building websites using raw HTML Hypertext Markup Language. Students are encouraged to continue building websites on their own after the camp concludes.

NEW! Wilderness Survival Camp

Learn to become comfortable in the outdoors by developing basic short term wilderness survival skills. We’ll master practical skills like map, trail and compass reading, making your own water filter and shelter, and assessing weather conditions. Begin the week with on-campus exploration, the remaining four days will be spent on Sandy Hook and will include animal tracking, wildlife observation and survival tool use and techniques. Stacked, overlap and stagger are a few of the techniques used by LEGO designers to create original minifig scale models. Further your skills using basic 2x2 and 2x4 bricks and take a hands-on history lesson building pyramids, castles, suspension bridges, the Eiffel Tower, the Empire State Building, and the famous Ferris Wheel, just to name a few. Continue to the next level of creating using technic pieces that allow movement using gears, pins, axles and motors. Explore what gears do and get to the bottom of the “gear ratio” and how friction and non-friction influence movement. Campers will present an
