Co2 Car Engineering Design

Design, build, and test your own CO2 dragster race car! Learn how compressed air can propel your race car to reach 60mph. 3D modeling software and parts provided will be utilized to build your race car. A digital jump/flash drive is suggested. Students are required to bring/wear long pants & shoes while in the technology lab. Each student will keep their dragster after the last day of class. Come prepared to race!

Digital Art With Photoshop

Have you ever wanted to create your own computer artwork or manipulate digital pictures?  Interested in adding images to a photo or change someone’s appearance?  Here is your chance to learn Photoshop skills in a fun summer environment.  Campers will learn how to use Photoshop tools to create, improve and manipulate images.   We will also explore how magazines manipulate images to market products to consumers.

Digital Circuit Technologies

This is where electrical engineering, the field of designing and developing new equipment begins. Discover the inner workings of circuits by building electronic devices using resistors, LEDs, Integrated circuits and more. Learn the basics of soldering techniques then move on to more difficult projects. Explore the inner workings of integrated circuit chips by building circuits on computers using logic gates. Completed projects can be brought home after last day of camp.

Historical Technology

Learn how historical technologies changed the world and actually build these working technologies.  Design and build while learning engineering design drawing techniques. Design and build a hot air balloon – then fly it! Build and take home a working catapult, sundial, hypsometer and hovercraft – racing your hovercrafts the last day of class. Students are required to bring/wear long pants & shoes while in the technology lab.

Magnetic Levitation And Solar Technology 

Mag-lev vehicles can provide the high-speed transportation of people and goods to move rapidly and efficiently along the magnetic guide-ways. The aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle shape is critical to its success. An aerodynamically efficient body shape reduces friction between the air and the vehicle. Jon us to design, build, test and race a vehicle across a track. Campers learn electronic concepts covering direct current obtained through solar cell power and build solar activated devices. Students are instructed in safety methods using tools. Campers will successfully design electronic circuits and build a solar powered device to take home.

Website Building Technology                                                                                 

Campers will begin the week by building websites using rapid pro type tools.  After mastering these skills, campers move on to building websites using HTML Hypertext Markup Language.  Campers have the option to incorporate technologies such as hyperlinks, cascading style sheets, JavaScript, tables and more in building their websites.  Students are encouraged to continue building websites on their own after the camp concludes.

Programming for Middle School Students

Designed for middle school students with limited or no computer programming experience. Campers will be utilizing the Python programming language, which is recognized as an official language at Google, to explore programming topics. Subjects such as variables, loops, and data types will be used to design algorithms and perform creative problem-solving. All concepts are taught at a level and pace in a fun environment that allows campers to fully appreciate the beauty of programming.

Programming Robots with Arduino Microprocessors (Beginners)     

Campers learn the principles of integrated circuits and programming while utilizing the skills of schematic design. Students design and build several circuits to produce light, sound and motor movement within both series and parallel circuits while controlled through programming. Camp ends with a competition using Arduino programmable Robots within a design challenge competing with their campmates.

Biotech Boot Camp – 23 and YOU

How do those popular DNA kits work?  Touch the exciting field of biotechnology. Use state-of-the-art equipment to perform scientific techniques including: DNA gel electrophoresis, DNA fingerprinting, genetic engineering of bacteria to glow in the dark, and identification of genetically modified organisms. Explore current issues, including stem cell and cloning.

Forensics

Find out how science is applied to our justice systems. Forensic science relies upon biology, chemistry, geology and physics to support criminal justice and civil law. We’ll explore a variety of lab skills including handwriting analysis, micropipetting, microscope use, comparison of impressions and analytics of blood splatter.  Use these investigative skills to solve a mystery case at the end of the week.
